Jim Cunningham is a licensed professional counselor candidate and a licensed school counselor with more than 5 years of experience with children, adolescents and adults. He uses EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and a cognitive behavioral approach to respond to the client’s individual needs. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs’ Counseling Department. An Air Force veteran with 24 years of service, Jim also understands the myriad challenges military members and their families face.

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma. EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches.

While scientific research has established EMDR as effective for post-traumatic stress.  Clinicians also have reported success using EMDR for the treatment of  many issues to include: panic attacks, phobias, pain disorders, performance anxiety, addictions, stress, sexual and physical abuse, body dysmorphic disorders, personality disorders, grief, disturbing memories, and dissociative disorders
